Ministry Overview
The focus at Christ Bible Church is on becoming a youth ministry rather than just a “youth group.” Any organization can have a youth group just by virtue of having students come together for a meeting. A youth ministry has students coming together to minister to one another and to their peers not involved in the youth ministry. The weight of this responsibility is on the pastor or leader.
We will hold students accountable to the Biblical standard of living, not just an arbitrary set of rules and regulations on what a “Christian” is supposed to do or act like. We expect obedience to the Word of God (Deut. 6:6) and love for God (Deut. 6:5; cf. Matt. 22:37 and parallels), and each other (John 15:9-14; cf. 1 John 3:11). We also expect to fulfill the great commission (Matt. 28:19-20) through Bible teaching, training (discipleship groups and small groups) and study , as well as through witnessing and evangelism training.
We endeavor to deal with students as young adults and strive, along with their parents, to be among the leading influences in their lives in order to grant them both the privileges and responsibilities of adulthood. We feel that we are partly responsible to train them, along with their parents, in accordance with what the Bible teaches. Thus, we challenge them to live according to the Biblical standard and help them to find their place in the body of Christ (1 Tim. 4:12).
We at Christ Bible Church are striving to have a Biblically based student ministry that ministers to these students where they are at in their season of life (1 Cor. 9:22b). We endeavor to reach out to students (evangelize) in order to help them mature in their relationships with Jesus Christ and with other believers (discipleship) by challenging them to grow in their own ministry to their peers (James 1:22-27) (ministry) and to honor God with their lives (Rom.12:1-2) (worship) through the building up of Christ centered relationships (fellowship).
Student Ministries meets two Friday nights each month, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Patrick and Hannah’s in Northridge.
